June 9th: Kapono/Evans Trade Review

Well as promised my first trade review, albeit over a week late.

THE TRADE:

To Toronto:
Reggie Evans

To Philadelphia
Jason Kapono

What it does for the Raptors:

The trade adds a rebounding big man with Evans. Evans would soften the blow if they were to trade Chris Bosh this off season. The trade also aids Toronto a bit financially because Evans will make about $1 mil less per season the next two years than Kapono.

What it does for the 76ers:
The trade fills the major need for a shooter with range in Philadelphia. Kapono is now far and away the best outside shooter on the team. Kapono will strenthen a rather weak bench. He also has a player option after this season, in affect this could become an expiring contract which helps Philadelphia financially.

Winner of the Deal:
Philadelphia

Final Remark:
Overall this deal is minor move for both teams and likely . Look for some more major deals on draft day and over the course of the summer due to teams cutting cost because of the economy.
